When it comes to getting a close shave, all men are “not” created equal. From the beginning stages that a young “black” male reaches puberty, commercials, and pictures of the American “white” male aggressively illustrating how to shave seems to be everywhere. With that being said young black males often copy what they see. So they try their hand at shaving creams & razors. After their first attempt at shaving (like the commercials) a startling metamorphosis occurs. You guessed it! Those “oh” so popular razor bumps. As a result, many young African American males become confused about the proper way to shave as a black man.
In the video posted below, I stopped at Transformations Barber & Beauty Salon located at 1479 S. Hawkins on Akron’s west-side to get educated by Master Barber Josh. Josh educated us about the dos and don’ts when it comes to shaving as a black man. Also, he said that in many cases it's not only the shaving technique but the skincare.
