I really think that we are missing the big picture when it comes to our music. Artists like Public Enemy to Marvin Gaye had powerful messages in their music. Messages that often times uplift, educate, empower and at the same time entertain. Music is often called the universal language because through the rhythms we all feel emotions that connects us as a people. Erykah Badu has always been at the forefront of this musical revolution.
Erykah Badu is burning up the airwaves and television with her lat test effort titled New Amerykah Part 2 Return of the Ankh. The CD is filled with everything that you come to expect from this highly talented songstress. One of the hottest tracks on the CD features LiL Wayne and it is titled Jump up in the air. I Like this track because it puts you in the mind of that old Funkadelic vibe. This track along with a few others off the project is just a little taste of how she keeps her music and sound relevant in today's trendy market.
The real talk and all the controversy is about the lead single and video off the project titled Window seat. If you have been living under a rock somewhere, this is the video where she walks through town stripping and by the end of the video she is completely naked and dead! Now a lot of people are upset that this socially conscious artist should not have to show off all her asset to sell her music. Where some people are saying that's just her being Erykah. Myself and I think I speak for the very shocked male population......."WOW".
