When I'm out of town promoting AkronHipHop.com , many people ask me about the local music scene. I always tell people that Akron have been putting out quality music for years. In fact, the local rap scene is more advanced then some major cities. Even though that last statement is hard to believe for some of my "out of town folk" but it's very true. Record stores like 2 Live Music bare's witness to the consistency and the success of the local rap scene in the city of Akron.
With that being said, a new record label pushing a slightly different brand of rap music is making some noise around the community. The name of the record company is called Street Lite Music. They represent that good ole music with a message. Specifically speaking they rap and promote biblical principles over hard/street type beats and production. The label's first release was by CEO/rapper Lazarus. This time around the label is working the mix-tape release from rapper Dominion aka Kelvin C. Penland.
The mix-tape is titled "Confessions Of A Broken Christian" and it will be hitting the streets and all digital outlets on 5/19/2017. As Dominion puts it, he represent what they call "Raw Christian Rap". If I can put it in words to describe what that means, in-short it'll be real street music with a message.
