I admit it, I'm one of those people who said that Nicki Minaj is clearly the best female rapper since Lyte and Latifah. But some people have suggested that Lil Kim and Foxy Brown was considered the best. The debate can go on forever. Like I said before music comes and music goes. As always music comes during times where the current trends are relevant to that specific time. Back in the 1980's a female rapper only had to have real lyrics to be a factor in the game. But by the late 1990's going into the 2000's the female rapper had to be naked to even make some kid of noise in the game. So with that being said one can see how Lyte and Latifah can be considered to best at one point in time and Lil Kim and Foxy Brown during another.
I think that besides taking their cloths off Lil Kim and Foxy Brown were lyrical giants in the game. Other females that did a lot for the female rapper advancing in the game was Salt and Pepper. Although it has been said that they didn't write most of their earlier material, one can't deny there impact and success.
Did you know that female rapper Da Brat is considered to be the first female rapper to go platinum. Now that's big, knowing that Lyte and Latifah including Salt and Pepper came before her. Missy Elliot is the most talented rapper male or female. The girl's a rapper, songwriter, singer, dancer, and producer. All in all let's just say she stands alone in a category all by herself. Other notable female rappers like Bahamadia, Boss, Lauren Hill, Remy Ma and Eve all came out at a time where they were considered the best.
Now in all honesty I'm writing this because last time I was so hyped over how good Nicki Minaj sound on the mic and records that I don't think I made myself clear. Many people thought that I was saying that Nicki Minaj was better than Lyte and Latifah. Hopefully with this article you can clearly see where I'm coming from. Everybody has a favorite team, player or rapper, but when it comes to choosing the best of all-time you have to transcend the barrier of time to adequately come up with the best. So that's why I had to put all of the before mentioned female rappers in their proper perspective. Yes everybody that I mentioned are the best at one point in time.
ALERT: I was recently surfing the web and came across a video that featured a female artist that made me do more investigation and ultimately a recount. After a few clicks and verses it was clear that this is the best female rapper of all-time ( well at-lest our favorite here at ill-board.com) She write her own lyrics sold millions of records and have all the platinum plaques to show for all her collaborated works. She still have the swagg to be considered hot by the masses. With all her cloths on and those afro-puffs, Deathrow Records, The Lady Of Rage is the best.
