The Game's gang-related Red Album

You know every now and then the question comes up, what happened to the strong hold that the west coast hip hop scene had on the entire nation? Like I always say, music comes and it goes. When you think of the many different artists that has topped the charts over the years, you will realize how the industry works. Look at the few artists that's on top right now. Each and everyone of them are all featured on each others albums. Which brings me to the west coast representer The Game.

The Game hit the streets this week with his latest effort titled The Red Album. And as you would've guested he's representing the entire west coast way of life, including the gang culture as well. Now I know that when you represent your hood as a rap star, you have to rep it to the fullest. But the whole Blood Gang thing- I'm kind of on the fence about it. But when you have one of the biggest stars in music (Lil Wayne) representing the Blood Gang, it becomes trendy once again. Which is why we have a CD hitting the shelves glorifying gang life.
Anyway back to the Red Album, The CD starts with an intro that features Dr.Dre foreshadowing what's what. Then what seems like the entire industry gets together and showcase their respective talents on the entire project. The album comes off more like a compilation/sound track or something. I tell you what I don't like, I don't like when you get the star of an album (in this case, Game) transforming his style to stay relevant in the market place. One of the songs I heard while researching this project was titled Krazy which was featured and produced by Timbaland and Gucci Mane. The song sounds like a true Gucci Mane track produced by Timbaland. Game kind of dumb down his style and lyrics to fit the record in an attempt to stay relevant. I feel when an artist does this type of thing, it's a tell tell sign of he or she falling off ( slowly losing their relevancy in the market-place). I mean come on Game and Gucci on the same track-Stop the maddness!!!!!!
Check out the track-list and see what I'm talking about. Until next time have some fun and get something done.
