Like every year the Akron African Festival which is always held in downtown Akron at The Loc 3 Ample Theater was threatened with rain. But like always the first day of two went on without a drop of it. Like always, the vendors were off the hook. If you like any type of Afrocentric fashion, books, pictures, and food this has to be the place for you.
Myself personally, I look at this annual event like many of us do x-mas. With everything that it has to offer why wouldn't I. More importantly this event celebrates the African American tradition from a cultural and heritage perspective. Also the entertainment is always of the hook. Tonight Akron's own and national recording artists Half Mile Home did their thing on the stage. While tomorrow the legendary funk band Zapp will hit the stage.
In-closing I wanna thank Ms.Debra Calhoun and her team for always putting in the work to make this event possible. Also I would like to thank her for also giving us some time to do a quick interview. Don't forget to check out the video coverage of the festival posted above this article. Until next time, have some fun and get something done.
