When we think of Kanye West many things comes to mind. One of those things has to be intelligence. When I think of this once held back super producer, I think about his creative genious and as of late his subject matter. That's right, in a time where all we hear is fashion and foolishness not to be out done by bling, money, sex and drugs, Kanye always seems to push the creative envelope. This time around Kanye turns it up a notch with his new single titled All Day.
The track itself is simply one of the hottest beats being played on radio. The subject matter has Kanye verbally illustrating the type of stuff African Americans spend most of their time doing. But on the other hand we find Kanye speaking on some of the things that one can find him doing on a daily. This subject matter is what Hip Hop was once all about. To showcase situations that can bring about positive dialog and ultimately change is what I personally feel Kanye's music is all about.
Now don't get me wrong, I know Kanye swings with the best of them in-regards to foolishness across the board. But like I always say, in order to reach the people you have to be amongs the people or at least talk like the people. And as far as I can remember Hip Hop conscious artists has always used profanity and some questionable imagery. Remember we are living in a time where foolishness is celebrated and being the smart guy in the room is not necessarily a good thing. So in the same traditions of legendary conscious rap acts Kanye often submerge his positive subject matter underneath trendy jargon and production. All in all, if you don't have an ounce of self consciousness or self worth you will ultimately miss the message all together. Until next time have some fun and get something done.
