As I sit here to write this weeks article, I have to remind myself that I'm suppose focus on current events in the music industry. You know, all the latest releases as it pertains to the urban community as a whole. But today I can't just sit here and write about some mindless music or music without a message when our communities are under attack. It seems like almost daily one of our brothers are getting gunned down at the hands of Caucasian police officers and by whom ever else that feels so-called threatened.
This weeks events in Baltimore have all but put white America on notice. And what do I'm mean by notice? It's simple, we as a people are not going to take this BS any longer. I really get frustrated when every time the question it's asked by white America.....Why are they tearing up their own community by looting and burning buildings? To me it's simple, most of these businesses located in our communities are not black owned businesses. Which to me and I say it again is a simple answer. They're not ours!!! So when you see what has been called senseless acts of burning down our own communities, what's really happening is an instinctive act of revolting against anything that not suffering the same way that we are. I always have said if you want to get your point across you can't beat around the bush or try to soften the reality of what you are trying to say. So many people often misunderstand the watered down truth to mean something else. But one can not mistake a HELL NO-GET THE F-CK OUT OF HERE for a maybe.
As far as today's current chart toppers and their music, one would be hard pressed to here any positive messages or even a mention of what's happening to our young brothers at the hands of white law enforcement. During times likes these we need to hear from the Chuck D/Public Enemy of this generation. Oh I'm sorry there isn't one. So I guess the real Public Enemy would do. Their song Fight The Power should be played everyday on current urban radio. Or better yet, I think that it would be an even better idea that we have an up to date version of F-ck The Police by N.W.A. This version however should feature a verse from every rapper that's making noise on the web and radio right now. Just think about it a new type of We Are The World or Self Destruction. But this song would be about the injustice that we receive at the hands of crazy cops and the judicial system. With that being said here's the rappers that I charge for not doing or saying anything of substance regarding the current climate. Drake, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Young Thug, Diddy, T.I, Future, Kanye West, Rich Homie Quan, Kendrick Lamar, Fetty Wap, Rae Sremmurd, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, Pusher T, French Montana, Ludacris, J.Cole, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, August Alsina, Jeremih, Kevin Gates, Usher. Ne-Yo, Wiz Kalifah, Juicy J, Lupe Fiasco, Common, 50 Cent, Birdman, Chief Keef, Stalley, Tyga, Yo Gotti, Jezzy, Busta Rhymes, Schoolboy Q, Wale, 2 Chainz, Fabolous, The Game, Maino, Lil Boosie, Bobby Shmurda, Migos, ASAP Mob, Remy Ma and Papose, B.O.B, Cory Gunz, Y.G, Kid Ink, Audio Push, King Lust, Lil Durk, Trinadad James, Dip Set, Royce The 5'9 , Kirko Bangz and whom ever else you think is making noise at this time. Just think about how many versions of F-ck The Police we would have.burning up the airwaves and the internet. For those that are really in the know, I'm sure you've all ready heard a few of these rappers on my list have already been spitting some hotness regarding the topic. Check out the video by my man Maino. He's already on it but I still think that it would be cool to have him on the joint. Until next time have some fun and get something done.
