It's A Good Day To Get Vaccinated BLAkron Ohio

Bro. Hiram Akeem & Dr. Brittney Owens

Many people in ‘My Black is Beautiful’communities across the United States are still leery of getting the COVID-19 vaccine even though 81% of us consider the pandemic a major threat but only 61% are willing to get vaccinated. Across 39 States a consistent pattern of African Americans is getting vaccinated at a lower percentage than others -according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

One of the things Dr. Fauci (President’s Chief Medical Advisor) states in many of his interviews is that many of "my brothas and sistas" are essential workers and are more likely to come in contact with individuals who may be potentially infected and once one of us become infected we are subject to higher incidence and factors of underlying illness or diseases.

Even though there is skepticism amongst our community about getting one of the COVID-19 vaccines, it is essential we utilize the resources in our communities to get vaccinated. Many of the local churches, grocery stores, and pharmacies are giving the vaccination shots. Brother Hiram Akeem got his 1st dose of the Moderna vaccine given by Akron's own Dr. Brittney Owens. Check out the video below as Dr. Owens discusses why it is important for ‘My Black is Beautiful’ community to get vaccinated.
