Many people around our great city of Akron, are getting familiar with The BMe Organization. For those that have seen the T-shirts or the social media presence online but not quit sure what it's all about, here it is. Per their Facebook page, BMe is a growing network of brothers committed to making our communities stronger. They are fathers, coaches, students and businessmen—regular guys from all walks of life who are engaging neighborhoods, starting businesses and mentoring kids. Each day, they get up and do their part. Just like you. Through BMe Community, you have the chance to inspire and be inspired, to come together in power and purpose. You can connect with other brothers, exchange ideas and resources to advance your work, and celebrate all that we do for our families and our future.
Every year The BMe Organization
recognizes those black men that are making a positive impact in their communities. This year's recognition comes in the form of a $10.000 award to 29 individuals from Akron, Miami, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Detroit and Pittsburgh. The Honorees from Akron are as follows.
Fred Barrett, 45, is president and founder of Socially Good TV.
Pastor Eugene Norris, 49, is the CEO of Fame Fathers. Eric Fletcher, 33, is the president and founder of Young Black Professionals Coalition. Kwame Scruggs, 49, is the founder and director of Alchemy. And of-course the multi-talented Elec Simon, 35. All of these men will use the award to continue their work as it pertains to building better communities.

During last month's ceremony, not only were the before mentioned honorees recognized but other influential personalities from Akron were given other awards as well. Marco Summerville, council woman Tara Samples, councilman Russell Neal and NOI member/BMe supporter Sister Angel Muhammad were among the many that were recognized.
To get involved with the "Bme Community " you can get in contact with their local representative and manager of the Akron office Aarron Epps via Facebook. You can also visit their official website bmecommunity.org. With that being said, let's stay motivated and keep networking with each other. Until next time, have some fun and get something done.
