Trey Songz is the King of Blazin Hip Hop and R&B

When I first sat out to do this article or blog, I wanted to concentrate on just one artist. Before I focus on that one artist that I believe has earned the title "The King of Blazin Hip Hop and R&B" I must mention a few others that I feel are pretty good as well. If you didn't know, the once front-man of the R&B group Dru Hill (Sisqo) has a hot new single titled A List. When I first heard the song I couldn't help but to crack a smile. The smile was for how trendy the track was. Often times when we hear a new song from a once popular act (trying to make a comeback) it falls short in-regards to it's irrelevant production and lyrical structure. This combination in-conjunction with the artist voice often makes for an out of date sound. As a result, it ultimately halt's any possibility of any type of successful comeback. But such is not the case for the "Thong Song" man himself. The production of the track has that modern street vibe to it. Which is perfect for any current chart topping rapper (Waka Floca Flame) to spit some materialistic lyrics to an already materialistic subject matter. As you may have guest it, the song is simply about being an "a lister" to all of the events and clubs. In other words having an unlimited amount of wealth, popularity and all the drinks one can enjoy while going clubbing. I find it also good to hear Sisqo using auto-tune in a attempt to sound relevant and trendy. The video production and concept is the perfect icing on an already flavorful cake.
Another would be king is no other than Chris Brown. He has not only a new single titled New Flame which features Rick Ross but he also has another full fledged CD hitting the streets as we speak. The single had to grow on me. But it didn't take a long time to do so. The production of the track has that mid-tempo vibe to it. Which is perfect to get your two step on. As with just about all of you so-called Blazin R&B songs, this to have that heavy bass drum driving the melodies into your subconscious. When it comes to Chris Brown I think that no-matter how much negative press he receive, it can only help him as an artist in the long run. Simply put, Chris Brown never said that he was the gangsta/thug type. He's simply a young man living that so-called rock-n-roll life style. See when "other type" of acts (and I mean other than African American artists) partake in drugs, alcohol and violent behavior the media say that they're simply living that so-called rock-n-roll life style. But when black artists do so they label them thugs and bad boys. No matter how many double standards that we as a people have to over come Chris Brown (and others like him) star will always shine brighter then the B.S that they have to endure.
Now I could go on and on about who is the king of Blazing Hip Hop and R&B. New comers like August Alsina and veterans like Usher are all on my list but there can only be one king of the hill. As it pertains to Blazing Hip Hop and R&B I once again crown Trey Songz as the undisputed king of the genre. His new single titled "Touchin Lovin"is just one example of how relevant he has become. Again and again Trey Songz has topped the charts with hot club bangers and this time around would be no different. The production has that up tempo kinda like retro New York vibe to it which is perfect for Nicki Minaj's flow and lyric's. His latest CD titled Trigga is his best work to date. Which makes for a sad day for other male soloist in the game. In closing, it's good to see so many good quality male artists making great music. But remember in a realm full of peasants there has to be only one king. Until next time, have some fun and get something done.
