| Ky-Mani Marley |
The first artists is what some people may call a reggae artist. But to be more specific he's a Dance-hall artists. For those that don't know Dance-hall reggae could be considered Jamaica's version of Hip Hop music/Rap.The name of the first song is titled In your eyes by New Kids. His real name is Anthony Bennett and of-course he was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica. He's been putting it down for years now and with the emergence of this new hot single, hopefully will get people to check out some of his other material. The track of the song is dance hall production at it's best. If you like some of Shabba Ranks radio hits in the 90's then you'll love this song. Over the perfect production New Kidz actually sing the lyrics to the song Frankie Paul style which I feel makes the song great. The subject of the song is about looking at a beautiful woman and wanting to get to know her. The tempo of the track is perfect for hand dancing. All in all this is the hottest yet simple joints that I've heard all year.
Another Dance Hall artists is reggae royalty because he is the only son of the great Bob Marley and his wife Anita Belnavis.Born in Falmouth Jamaica but raised in Miami which is evident in his music and flow. But make no mistake that his music is real reggae. The song that I think should be playing on every blazing hip hop and r&b station in America is titled Get High by the before suggested but now mentioned Ky-Mani Marley. This song's production and beat is laid back but bumping at the same time. Many people have said this is the perfect song to smoke to which is what Ky-Mani eludes just about every chance he gets. Put it this way almost every time on of these dance-hall artists makes a song about the herbs and format it to cross over to the hip hop crowd here in the states it's almost always a hit. So with that being said go check it out.
In all honesty I could go on and on about dance hall music and the dynamic artists that's holding the genre down. For the people that truly knows me understands how much I love the art form. From so called old school artists like Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, Daddy Freddy, Super Cat, Frankie Paul, Pato Banton, Pinchers, Yellow Man, Ninja Man and Patra to Vybz Kartel you can check all of these acts out at Ill-board.com everyday. Until the next time have somefun and get something done.
