Recently we were invited to the first annual Strides Of Strength Empowerment Gala. The event was conceived and put together by Danyelle Taylor of TaylorMyHeart.com. Danyelle's movement is simple, she set out to empower beautiful African American women by acknowledging their unique greatness. It was that concept and idea that made the event so special. The event took place on Akron's east-side at the Goodyear Local. The weather was great and played an important part as it pertains to what the women were wearing and how "dope" they had their hair did/done. The hall was decorated in red & black complete with a touch of class that Danyelle and her movement are known for.
Taylor My Heart Award
Councilwomen Tara Samples was the keynote speaker and as always she inspired the gala goers. We were blessed with some of the area's hottest female spoken word artists and of course one of the city's most popular female DJ's CeCe The DJ. In a night full of great words and positive motivations Danyelle's testimony was definitely one of the most powerful testimonies of the night. All in all, the event was "dope" classy, inspirational and much needed. With that being said if you are a sista and you are doing some great things with self and or community you may be setting yourself up for one of those highly coveted "Taylor My Heart Awards".
