New Music From Lil Wayne, The Dream And Others

LiL Wayne

Many people know that when it comes to what's hot in music, all you have to do is check the streets. Well we here at ill-board.com like to keep those of you (that like to stay out the way) in the know. As always I comb through many different radio stations and CD stores around the country to see what's hot in their neck of the woods. Also through ill-board.com and other Internet media allows underground artists and their music to be seen and heard.
This week we start off with Lil Wayne featuring Big Sean with the new single titled My Homies still.... This track has crazy energy and the video complete the song. I know you might be thinking how can a video complete a song. Well one part of the chorus they say "Get Stupid" and the visuals in the video suggest a lot of artistic stupidity. The lyrics that both Lil Wayne and Big Sean spits on this track is on the next level compared to what's being considered hot nowadays. All in all this track speaks for the current trend that we're seeing in hip hop.
The next song is by singer, songwriter and producer The Dream titled Dope B%tch featuring Pusha T. One thing that I like about The Dream is that he's deeply rooted in hip hop. And I believe in another life he was probably a good rapper. I say that because his music is straight up music that rappers rap off of and usually rap about. The song Dope B%tch is know different. The track has a mid to up-tempo beat and lyrically uses drug metaphors to describe how addicted to his girl he is. I think Pusha T is the perfect rapper to be featured on this song. Pusha is the quintessential drug rapper meaning: all he rap about is drugs, drugs and more drugs. So this is a match made in heaven or should I say the streets.
Another song is by the once Onyx member Fredro Star. Lately Star has been working the streets with a new relevant sound, making him the comeback rapper of the year so far. The first song that I heard from him is titled 180 on the dash. This track has that ever so popular down south vibe to it making Star sound like he's reaching for respectability. As a whole I like this track because it shows that an artists have to be relevant when making music with the intent to sell. Another song that I heard from him was titled All or Nothing. On this track Star flows over a laid by R&B beat complete with a crooner singing on the hook. The thing that makes this joint so hot is Star delivers his verses with a laid back flow leaving his very popular hardcore and loud delivery behind.
One thing that I've noticed lately is how much girl on girl action is going on in music nowadays. Female rapper Shawnna has a new song titled Big and Fat. The track has that ever so-popular down south vibe and is filled with oral suggestions with and to another girl. I saw the video and was so shocked at the imagery that I said to myself she is a much better rapper than this. It's sad that an artists with that much talent have to set aside her abilities and become something that they never was in the first place. I mean to see her in so-called sex scenes with other women is a damn shame just to sell CDs. Anyway, when it comes to what's going on in the world of music keep supporting The Reporter Newspaper. Until next time, have some fun and get something done.
