A young lady asked me what was Akronhiphop.com all about. I told her the real question should be, what is Akron Hip Hop all about? The answer to that question is simple. We here at AkronHipHop.com and The Reporter Newspaper Online is about painting positive images of our people everyday. We know that the "white" media will only show what makes them comfortable regarding what goes on in our communities. Which is why AkronHipHop.com showcases the many different things that make up our unique experience here in Ohio.
Personally speaking, I believe that people think Hip Hop is just rap music. In fact, rap music is just one of five elements that makes up the entire Hip Hop culture. We want people that's not too familiar with the culture as a whole to understand that Hip Hop is not limited to vulgar rap lyrics, thug life and skinny jeans. Hip Hop and the African American experience has way more to offer. Most people that I deal with or come across are business minded, positive thinking, god fearing, wisdom seeking and hard working people.
So in-short, AkronHipHop.com is all about changing the narrative of what society as a whole think about "black America". Also when people click on the site from different cities across the nation, we won't them to see how polished BLAkron Ohio really is.
