When we think about Father's pertaining to the African American experience, many things comes to mind. Unfortunately, some negative comments are often spoke of regarding the topic. Personally I could go on for minutes reciting comments that I have heard when it comes to the "black" father. Instead I will take these moments to put forth some positive comments regarding the fathers that reside in our communities in the form of "Fame Fathers."
In short, Fame Fathers is a 501c non-profit organization that promotes committed, responsible and involved fathers. The organization offer many different services that can help fathers with child support and visitation issues-just to name a few. I had the pleasure to talk with Pastor Tarik West and Jamar Hooks from the organization at Summit Lake. It was there that they told me about their fishing event.
Fame Fathers have partnered up with Summit Metro Parks for their Fishing Event to be held at Summit Lake on June 16th from 5pm-7pm. Free Fishing Polls, bate and other things will be provided. This event is just another dynamic way for Fame Fathers to promote fathers to invest time with their children in a outdoor setting. Personally speaking, what better way to kick off Father's Day weekend.
In-closing, I would like to thank Pastor West and the brother Hooks for taking the time to explain to me what Fame Fathers as an organization is all about. Also I would like to thank them and the organization for such an event that will ultimately paint our people in a positive light. If you would like to connect with Fame Fathers call (330) 873-9794. Below you'll find my quick interview with the brothers. Unfortunately the wind was blowing kind of hard during the interview. When I viewed it I wasn't going to use it in this post but later I thought the information that they shared was more important. With that being said, have some fun and get something done.
