Lazarus Talks Music And The Word God

For the past couple of years, it seems like rap music has been at a stand still. The majority of the rap music you here on the radio is filled with negative imagery, concepts and themes. As of late, many rap fans have been looking for something a little different. Something with the same intensity and vibe. The success of Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar is proof that the mainstream is ready for something with a little more consciousness.

Here in Akron Ohio, we have an independent record label called Street Lite Music. And it's goal is to bring "light" to the streets. C.E.O and rapper DeShawn Johnson aka Lazarus said that "bringing the light and word of God to the people in a way that they can understand it- is my mission".

When I saw the music video titled Stand Up which is his latest single off of his soon to be released album called A Beautiful Funeral, I thought now this is what the rap game been missing. Check out my quick interview with Lazarus below. Until next time have some fun and get something done.
