Akron's Power Couple Always Keeps It Godly, Cultural & Black

A growing number of people have asked me "what am I'm doing with Akronhiphop.com". As of late, many have acknowledged our presence on the web via social media outlets. My answer is simple. We are trying to combat all the negative imagery that's being promoted to the masses regarding our people. Our slogan is "your authentic voice for the Hip Hop and urban community". The word that should stand out is "authentic". When you define the word authentic, it simply means "of undisputed origin/genuine.  And when it comes to Hip Hop here in Akron, Ohio most people know that our origin is genuinely Hip Hop. As members of the so-called urban community we have been showcasing/promoting the many different things that makes our city unique. And Pastor Ukali White and his wife Selena Horton White are as unique and much needed regarding our community as you can get.

Ukali White is a uncompromising christian pastor who's "Go Represent" movement is changing lives. The unique thing about Ukali is he combines the struggle that we face as people here in America with biblical scriptures. Unlike some Pastors, Ukali takes his ministry to the streets hints the name "Go Represent".

Selena is not just a loving and supporting wife. She is also a teacher that favor home schooling over the traditional model. She believes that having a more diverse curriculum is paramount in the development of our children. She has not only "home schooled" her own children-she have different clients who's parents believes in her techniques.

In-short I personally believe that dealing with our children one have to truly understand our children. When I say this I'm talking from a more cultural perspective. And who's better to teach African Americans about their heritage, history and culture? My answer will always be a well informed well educated African American teacher.

This couple are doing some dynamic things everyday in our community. Which is why we (in-conjunction with The Reporter Newspaper) will always showcase this caliber of people and news. Let's be honest, we see us being portrayed in a negative light by the euro-centric (white) media on the daily. Which is why we have to be glad the we have had The Reporter Newspaper in our community since 1969. Until next time, have some fun and get something done.
