Whats really hood in the streets of Egypt?

The Arabian Knightz

With all the civil unrest coming out of Egypt, it is to know surprise that thousands of Egyptian youth are protesting against their President Hosni Mubarak and their government. With the help of Hip Hop acts like The Arabian Knightz young people here can really get a true understanding to what's really going on in Egypt.

You can turn on your television and almost instantly you will hear revolution coming from the east. Front-man of the Cairo based rap group The Arabian Knightz took to the Internet via Face-book & My-space to send a message to the other side of the world as well as the Egyptian streets. If you didn't know the Egyptian authorities has shutdown the country's Internet as well as the phone lines.
As with any revolution or change Hip Hop can be used as a tool to adequately translate what's going on in terms that an average person can understand. Unlike Fox News , MS NBC and Headline News rap music has its ear to the real streets and issues.
That's why groups like The Arabian Knights all around the world are so important. I mean its cool to brag about what you have cars, jewels and what not but when the streets are really talking you gotta have an uncompromising voice to battle the so called media hype.
When listening to tracks and watching videos from the group I couldn't help but think about how their government wants to stop every body's freedom of speech and at the same time a much needed set of laws are in order.
Video shot from Fokkak
Anyway their music is real with a hint of east coast flavor as evident on the track & video "Fokkak". On the video, you'll see real MC's rapping in their native tongue as well as uplifting Arab pride. If this was an American group it would come off like an commercialized Wu-Tang Clan. With Four MC's you will hear the many sounds of Egypt- from the one guy calling himself the real life rapping King-Tut to walking the streets of Cairo in his Nike shoes.
On the side of the current issues facing Egypt many Indie Hip Hop acts out of Cairo have released tracks and songs that were used in a video campaigns called The Day Of Anger. In closing, to get connected to what's really happening in the streets I mean any streets across the globe look know further then The Black CNN (Hip Hop music & culture). Until next time have some fun and get something done.
