I love that most of the people I'm talking to right now or engage in conversations with are talking "black" struggle and liberation. I've often said that sometimes I get lonely not being able to talk that "black consciousness" with someone on a daily bases. Ever since the so-called "black uprising" or the black lives matter movement exploded as a direct result of police brutality, some of the latest music echos the screams of freedom, justice, and equality.
Jamaar Milton
That's right, finally, the conscious rappers are now getting a major look due to the country's current trends and talking points. One of those artists/rappers is my brother Jamaar Milton. Bro. Jamaar is not only a dope emcee but he's also a popular You-tuber. As you may have guessed it, Brother Jamaar is a student/teacher of pretty much all things African/black. His primary belief system is Kemetic. For those that don't know Kemetic or Kemet is the name of "Black" Egypt way before the Mediterranean connection or the arrival of the Romans. His new song and video it titled Black & Proud.
Eye Impress & Jamaar Milton
The track is eerie which is ultimately conducive to the eerie vibe and visuals of the video. The track also features another dope & talented intellectual whose name is Eye Impress aka Tazarapath. Her voice and delivery on this track are powerful. When viewing the imagery during the video one can't help but develop deep thoughts of revolution and self-pride.
