Juneteenth is a very special day for the African American community. For those that don't know, Juneteenth is the day that the African American slave was freed from bondage. Some are confused about the term Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a verbal gesture combining all of the so-called days that it took for the news to travel across the south. In short, we celebrate or acknowledge June 19th as that special day.
Now more than ever the African American community are showing more and more interest in their culture, history, and heritage. With that being said here in Akron Ohio there are a few celebratory events that will take center stage this Juneteenth. Below and above are videos, flyers, and digital postcards promoting those events. Until next time, have some fun and get something done.
