Every now and then I’ll get some music sent to me that sometimes sits on my desk for weeks. For those that don’t believe it, there are a few record labels left that still send tangible CDs as promotional products so that people like me can check it out. Then there are the “trendy savvy” labels and artists that send me a link via email or Facebook messenger with the hope of me reviewing their music for our website and the other publications that I’m affiliated with.

Recently I’ve received a phone call from an Akron rap artist by the name of Finland Da Great. He simply called to introduce himself and his music. Naturally, he sent his latest release and music video via a You-Tube link. Before our conversation ended I couldn’t help but noticed the professionalism that he talked with. What I thought was really “dope” was the fact that he referenced and referred to his management.

The music-video that he sent is titled Wire. This according to him symbolizes a “wire transfer” that can ultimately transfer us from one position in life to the next. Finland Da Great is much deeper than the average rapper. If you can imagine the essence of Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, and the creative diversity of Drake then you will be able to relate to Finland Da Great’s sound and style. The instrumental track for the single “Wire” is also produced by Finland Da Great. The eerie and melodic sounds that he used for the track is a perfect match for his relevant and trendy flow. 

In closing, Finland Da Great is a complete breath of fresh air hailing from BLAkron Ohio’s west-side. But as he said in the song “Wire” the most-high “father keeps directing him”.
