About a month or so ago I watched one of the most "black conscious" movies that I've ever seen. The name of the film is titled Destination Planet Negro. Upon hearing about the subject matter, I was very excited about the visual possibilities that the production could take. After watching the movie I thought that this was one of the most in your face kind of story telling that I've ever seen in modern film.
For those that would like to know a little about the movie's subject matter and direction, the movies synopsis is as follows..In 1939, African American leaders respond to Jim Crow segregation by building a rocket to colonize Mars. The three person crew blasts off, but time travel instead, arriving in present-day America revealing much about race today.
