2014 B.E.T Awards-Recap & Review

So I checked out the B.E.T Awards, which aired this pass Sunday And as always there were a few things that was off the hook and some other things that missed the mark. First things first, let me start off by talking about this year's hostChris Rock. Many people have been saying that he didn't do that good and he disrespected too many people while doing his hosting thing. I personally thought he did a pretty good job. Of-course he talked about a few people as all hosts do when it comes to these type of shows. But when Chris Rock talk about someone he doesn't pull any punches. One of the things that I don't like when it comes to the B.E.T Awards is how the producers of the show (time and time again) ask the host to stall for time while they get the stage set for the next performance. To me this is what makes the show look unprofessional or this is when the host does the most talking about people. Just think about it for a second. Chris Rock is a black comedian and what they are most notorious for is talking about whoever in the audience while on stage doing their stand up routine. So when you ask people like Chris Rock, Kevin Hart and Chris Tucker to stall for time what do you think is going to happen? I just wish the host can be better prepared for those request to stall for time.
When it came to some of the acts that did their thing on the stage I have to start off with my first disappointment and that was Lil Wayne. In all honesty I know during shows like this artists like to perform new music but in Lil Wayne's case I believe he did too much of the never heard before song and didn't pick the right song that everyone liked. That's right he did two songs and missed the mark with both. All I can really remember is how many times they edited his performance.
One of the things that I did enjoy seeing was the return of Missy Elliot. She bought the house down when she jumped on the stage during Pharrell's performance. I also enjoyed Usher's performance. He reminded us why he is on a whole other level when compared to other male R&B acts. Speaking of male R&B acts the top three current chart toppers joined each other on the stage during August Alsina's performance. During his hit I Luv This (the remix) Trey Songz and Chris Brown showed why they're at the top of the food chain. Another part of the showthat I liked was when 90's sensation's Troop, Color Me Bad and Silk rocked the house. It was good to see all of these brothers still doing their thing. Other notable performances was by John Legend, Yolanda Adams, Nicki Minag, Chris brown, Ti and Iggy and Jhene Aiko. All in all the show wasn't that bad. The only thing that made me "feel some type of way" was the fact that acts like Rich Homie Quan and others wasn't in attendance. If you would like to see some of the highlights of the performances check out ill-board.com.  Until next time have some fun and get something done.
