Every now and then a CD comes out that captures the essences of the streets and the music industry as well. Dj Khaled has been putting in work for years now. With over 11 singles to crack Billboard's Hot 100 Chart Dj Khaled is a force to be reckoned with. As a DJ, it should come to know surprise that's how he conditioned his ear to be able to know what a hit is. As a producer, he took what he learned as DJ and blended it with his ability as a producer. To me, this is what makes Dj Khaled the legitimate leader in modern Hip Hop and R&B.
His new CD titled: Suffering From Success is what I like to call "a picture moment". A picture moment meaning, freeze framing the cultural trends and sounds of a moment. Almost everybody that's anybody in the game right now is featured on this project. I can remember an artists a few years ago I think it was Kanye West said that when you listen to one of his CD's it's like being in a time capsule transplanting you to that exact moment in time where those sounds and trends were valid. Well I have to say that no one in the game today can really say that but Dj Khaled.
The new project starts out with a clever intro featuring President Obama at his victory party after winning his second term. During the intro you can hear Dj Khaled's number one single titled All We Do Is Win in the background as the president celebrate winning his second term. The cool thing about the intro is that we have a president that's not afraid to show that he relates to us as a people. My other point is, it perfectly set the standard for what you will her on Khaled's project.
The first track that caught my ears was the title track called Suffering from success. the track has that slow sinister vibe to it and it features Ace hood and of-course Future on the hook. If you like the song Bugatti then you'll love this track. Another hot joint is titled I Feel Like I'm Pac which is a street banger that features Rick Ross, Ti, Meek Mill, Swizz Beatz and P. Diddy. This song has that up tempo/aggressive vibe to it. I think that song's like this proves that Khaled keeps his ears to the streets. Almost at every urban barber shop through-out the country, ciphers about Biggieand 2 Pac are still relevant. Another song titled: I wanna be with you which features Nicki Minaj and Future is burning up the airwaves right now. One of the hottest tracks on the entire project is titled: Never Surrender which features not only some of the industry's illest rappers but also R&B crooners John Legend and Anthony Hamilton. The video for the song is like a mini movie and is worth the view. It clearly paints the story's that the rappers are telling. Again, with the addition of Legend and Hamilton on this song illustrates how clever of a A&R/producer Khaled really is.
All in all, if you like what your local Blazin Hip Hop and R&B stations are repeatedly playing over and over than you'll love Dj Khaled's latest effort. Just remember, if you really like what the radio is playing than maybe you should stick to just listening to that and save your money. Because Khaled captures today's trends so perfectly that listening to his new project is like listen to the radio anyway. Until next time have some fun and get something done.
