New Music Here Every Friday

The record/CD shop  was the foundation of the music industry

For the people that don't know my background is music retail. I come from a place where the record store/ music shop or whatever you call it in your neck of the woods was the place to stay connected to what's going on in the music industry. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Billboard Magazine and the power hit has in-regards to the industry as a whole. The first music/ record store I worked at was a Billboard reporting store. That means every Friday a representative from Billboard will call to see what was our hottest selling tapes or Cd's for the week. Eventually we began using  Sound-scan like every other Billboard reporting store across the country. Since we where one of the stores that directly affected whether or not a CD did good numbers, we would often get national acts to show up to do in-stores. In-store is when an artists come into your store to sign autographs to ultimately boost up his or her sells. The good thing about the in-store for us at the retail level is that it always boosted up our sells for that day. More importantly the community well always support a record store that seems to be that connected to their favorite artists.
Working at the grassroots of the music industry in major markets like Atlanta and the mid-west will always bring me great memories. So with all of that being said, In the music industry-Tuesday has always been release day. So by that payday Friday (or the unspoken Friday before) we always had a whole lot of new music to push and to sell to our customers. Here at ill-board.com we will continue those traditions every Friday by showcasing some of the latest music that everyone will be talking about. Until the next time have some fun and get something done.
