Other music is waiting for you.

When I think about all of the latest blazin Hip hop and R&B burning up the airwaves and charts sometimes my heart goes out to the public at large. I know there's more of a variety out there to be promoted. That's why independent record sales and the independent labels are seeing an increase in sales and activity. More in particular music from different regions and markets are now breaking down the barriers that once kept independent artists from being heard. I truly believe the big machine that governs this incredible industry of ours are the direct reason why we are seeing this current trend.
When it comes to independent rap music artists from all over are turning to the Internet to promote and market their on brand and music. The old fashion way of promoting music is fastly changing right before our eyes. With the advent of the CD burner and music file sharing, the music industry are really competing with these independent labels and artists. As a result we are getting the same few artists forced down our throats by the major labels in almost every market and demographic across the country.
Myself I seek refuge in Dancehall Reggae music I have always liked Dancehall music and appreciated the hunger and grind by the Jamaican artists and labels. But when you listen closely to Dancehall you can hear almost everything that we have come to love about hip hop music. These artists sing and rap (DJ) about everything from the struggle, streets and bling bling. That's right America's hip hop influence can be felt and heard in Dancehall mucis as well. But these artists for the most part don't over do it with all that foolishness. I love it that there's still a market for positive rhythms. The sad part about my last statement is only a small portion of us support this kind of music. It doesn't to be Dancehall music-as long as the artist is talking about positivity we here in the states is not really on it. Many of our hip hop artists uplift negative imagery in their music and videos. Some very intelligent artists sometimes dumb down their intelligence by calling themselves ex-drug lords and evil dictators. At the risk of sounding so-called corny our children are being mentally trained and conditioned by all the negativity that's being blazed on our Hip Hop and R&B stations and of-curse those wack music video stations.
With that being said introduce your children, friends, homeys and everybody else to something other like: Vybz Kartel, Buju Banton, Mavodo, Mykal Rose, Lupi Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Eric Roberson, Aloe Blacc, B.O.B and Cee Lo Green. Don't let everybody else one up you when it comes intelligence. Until next time have some fun and get something done.
