Black Owned Dollar Store Helps Community....

Brian Brewer

During these uncertain times, we as a community need to stick together even more. Every since the country and "the powers that be" introduced us to the term "social distancing" it seems like everyone has forgotten "protocol number 1".  For those that don't know " protocol number 1" for the awakened minds of the African American community is to simply support black businesses.

The term "buy black" should be the very first thing we as a community need to be thinking about when making so many purchases during these trying times. Now more than ever "our people" are rushing to the store for household products, food, and adult beverages. If we can calm down (for just a second) and make an investment into our own community stores and establishments (before they're forced to close their doors) things will be better for them when the stores reopen.

With that in mind, The Dollar Plus & More located in the Firestone Park area of Akron Ohio at 1465 Aster Ave. 44301 is Akron's only black-owned dollar store. The store has everything one could expect for a "general" dollar store, which is a great thing during this coronavirus pandemic Recently I made a stop by the store to see how everything was going and the owner "Brian Brewer" told me and showed me that everything was stocked and ready to go for this weekend sales.

The store had everything from toilet paper,

disinfecting sprays and more. In fact, during the video (posted below) Brian educated the community on how to make their own hand sanitizer and disinfecting spray. Now that is what I "be" talking about. Supporting the people that are supporting the community should be the most important thing other than being safe. Until next time, have some fun and get something done.
