Brittany & Deanna EarKandy Radio
This past Friday, January 31st, 2020 was the day that Akron Ohio’s Hip Hop Gallery opened its doors. The gallery is the brainchild of Akron rapper and mogul King Locust. He said that he thought our beloved city deserved a place that housed the rich history and hustle of Akron’s rap music scene.
The event itself was supa dope for many reasons. One of those reasons was the very beautiful and intelligent sistas from EarKandy Radio. EarKandy Radio was doing their thing in-regards to keeping the entire city’s social media filled with images, commentary, and interviews from the event. As a result of their relentless grind, people and artist was coming from all over town.
Another dope thing about the event and gallery was, a few things from my past were on the wall upon my arrival. We put out a mix-tape that featured Jaz-Naz-T (one of the city’s best battle rappers ever). The CD featured him free-styling off the top of his head through-out the entire project. Also, the gallery had on display his “Taste of New York” tour jacket. For those that don’t know A Taste of New York (Records & Tapes) was our local music & mix-tape headquarters.
