Over the past few days I've been getting calls from people who were in the business of promoting their business, event or brand. Upon talking with them I noticed how excited they were sharing their vision with me. After they spent about 10 straight minutes explaining, they ask me if I have any questions. Recently my first question has been "do you know what I do". They usually say yes. From that point I give them my cost for the rate to get interviewed for the written article and video which will be featured on our website and other social media outlets.
Then they usually start giving me their Expense Allocation Report. Meaning what they have to do with their money regarding their up coming event or how much money they've spent already. To put it in simpler terms they expect me to get excited enough about their brain child, vision or event to take the time out of my schedule to write an article and produce a video interview for free.
In-closing, people only pay for what they value. And in our community, we should be supporting the people that supports the community with no problem. Regarding my business, pricing really never been an issue. I work within just about anyone's budget. If you expect a service to help get the word out or advertise your event, vision or brand you should be prepared to help them out with a token of your appreciation.
