Over the weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Destry Brooks. He and his family were in the midst of a battle. Some people may already be aware of how his son was cut from the play Dream Girls which was taking place at the Civic Theater. Mr.Books was so appalled by the decision that left his son on the outside looking in. To make it clear, his son was cut and replaced right before showtime. As a result to his son's firing Destry decided to protest the show. That's right, he and his daughter took to the streets (in front of the Civic Theater) and took a stand for their son and brother. Sunday I had the opportunity to meet the boy in question whose name is identical to his father's. It was during that conversation/interview that I heard his side of the story. Destry (the actor and son) was in a much better place emotionally. He was able to say things like "they gone see my name in lights anyway". I thought that was the best attitude to have after such a crazy experience. They say that he's full of talent and the sky's the limit for him.
