Kanye West Knows How to Get Your Attention

Not the real cover art but works just as well
Kanye West know's how to promote and get everybody's attention. His new studio project titled Yeezus is proof that nothing is off limits to his artistic views. It can be believed that he named his project Yeezus simply to show his affection for his lord and savior. But in reality he uses this play on words to stir up controversy as normal. With songs like I am a god and New Slaves one have to wonders is West on something. In my opinion the "something" that West is on is the same thing that have made Hip Hop music so great in the past (originality).
Keep in mind that Hip Hop music has always been a fusion of music ultimately creating a new sound for the ages. Legends like Run-D.M.C, Public Enemy, KRS-One,and Guru of Gangstar have all been at the forefront of this unique blending of musical cultures. Run-D.MC will always be the crew that broke down the barriers between the inner-city echos and mainstream America in-regards to the art form. Public Enemy took it to the next level by not only fusing the sounds that made rock legends so great but they portrayed that rock and roll mentality on and off the stage. Rappers like KRS-One and Guru used elements from Reggae and Jazz. In all honesty the list can go on and on. Remember Hip Hop has always been the music and voice of a people who really never knew that they had anything to call their own.
On Kanye's latest effort his production is what some would consider "out there" meaning very different. Rather than rely on the so-called traditional sounds of modern Hip Hop Kanye uses sounds that can be heard on Cd's from bands like Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails and other industrial rock bands. To me this is the reason many rap fans are having a hard time digesting this project. Some might say that it's the play on words or the so-call Illuminati subject matter and theme. But in reality current rap fans have been fed the same old bs rap for so long (drugs, sex, money, clubs, and popping bottles) that projects like Yeezus often fall on deaf ears. Hopefully one day rap fans will rejoin the rest of the world and realize that there's more to life than (drugs, sex, money, clubs and popping bottles). Until the next time have some fun and get something done.
