Niki Minaj goes ass out promoting Pink Friday
Finally Niki Minaj's new CD has hit the streets. Many people are talking about the fact that this is a female rapper generating this much publicity. In a male dominated field Niki is doing her part (and a big part I might ad) in hopefully what will become a resurgence of the female MC.
For the past 2 years Niki have been putting it down on other artist's music via the ever so popular feature/cameo situation. What was once a way to ad a little flavor on someone CD she has made a name and a empire off of (showcasing her talents on every body's music). I feel Niki has single handily kept many artist a float and relevant.
Teaming up with Lil Wayne's record label Young Money Records and P. Diddy's Bad Boy Management has all but made her the best in the game right now. After countless cameos and features she along with the entire Young Money family released the compilation CD which featured Lil Wayne, Drake, Niki and other up and coming talent signed to the label. This was considered to be her first release but as a solo artist her first official debut is the hottest CD in the game titled Pink Friday.
The CD starts of with a hot hip hop track blended with a little pop feel to it. The song is a road to success joint echoing the hard road she had to pave before reaching the top of the charts. The next joint I like to call Like a dungeon dragon features Eminem. These two MC's show why they're at the top of the game as lyricist. The production of the track is a pure hip hop track solidifying her place amongst underground hip hop heads. Speaking of hip hop Niki and her production team manages to keep true to the culture and at the same time reach her pop and international audience as well. With songs like I came to win, Save me, Check it out with Will.I.Am and Your love and a few others she will no doubt get a couple of Grammy nods next year.
Others tracks like Right thru you and Blazin featuring Kanye West will keep urban radio on fire. All in all Pink Friday is everything that I expected. But the good thing about the entire project is she and her team knows who's buying her records. Until the next time have some fun and get something done.
