Electric Football Is Alive And Well In Akron Ohio

Old School Rapper TJ

For those of us, that understand what it was like to be a kid before the digital divide, truly understand what "real" fun is all about. From literally going outside to play, drawing on the sidewalks to participating in all types of games like Hide & Seek, basketball, kickball and of course football I can truly say we had some good times.

Now when it came to football games, I can start this conversation in reverse. Now, we have real to life looking video games. Before that, we had "the not so real-life" football video games. Prior to that, we had the "hand held" joints. And of course, before that, we all enjoyed the electric football game set.

I can remember almost everyone in the community had one of these joints. We all would go over each other's house "to get down how we lived" for those that don't know what that means, it means to simply show and prove how good your team was. A few people in the hood had art skills and would take their team's look to the next level.
I can shout out a few of those artists but instead, I will big up the best to do it (where I'm from) and that was my belated homie & brother Glenn "Chuckie" Mullins. This brother's Dallas Cowboys were flawless including the names on their backs. Once again much love to my brotha Chuckie and his family.

As of late the game we all loved is making a comeback. People from all over the country are taking the game to the next level. Most of the people that are playing are the same people that played when we were young. It has now become what the "culture" calls the hobby. Here in Akron (old school rap artists and now one of the most popular mechanics in the city) T.J is leading the city's resurgence. Check out my quick vibe session with the brotha in the video posted below. Until next time, have some fun and get something done.
