AKRON – BMe (Black Male Engagement) celebrated the success of its community with a year-end holiday mixer honoring the achievements of black men in 2018. The Akron BMe Community Manager, Ace Epps hosted the holiday event today to spotlight black men and past winners who have created opportunities for others in the local community through initiatives or programming such as scholarship assistance, youth development, and mentoring.
Mr. Epps highlighted the 2018 accomplishments of BMe speaking to the attendees not only about what the group has achieved but also the vision of the organization for the new year. Epps said, “The network BMe has created (locally in BLAkron) has expanded from a small group to over 1100 participants. Every resource or service our community needs is available through the BMe network”.
Epps sentiments about the impact of BMe leaders was echoed by those who have participated in the program. Past winners, like Frank Miller of 7th Floor Clothing, and newcomers such as Dray “Blue” Evans, a self-described community artist, spoke about how BMe has changed their lives and inspired them to have a greater impact on the community in the future.
